EXPANSION PROJECT

Community Enrichment/Expansion Project

Naperville Elderly Homes Inc. (NEH) is excited to undergo a renovation and expansion of its affordable living facilities in 2019. The project is possible thanks to $24 million of Low Income Housing Tax Credits and HOME funds recently awarded to NEH from the Illinois Housing Development Authority and DuPage County, combined with other proposed funding from Wintrust Bank, DuPage County and the City of Naperville.

Architecture firm Worn Jerabek Wiltse has been retained to handle the project, which will include rehabbing all 120 existing studio and one-bedroom units. These units will be upgraded to include new bathrooms with easy-entry showers, appliances, finishes, granite countertops, LED lighting, new carpeting, and increased safety measures such as shower benches and wall railings.

NEH will also be expanding the facility with the addition of 68 more units in a new five-story structure. The total cost of the project is expected to be approximately $29 million. Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2019 and is estimated to be completed in Spring 2020.
